Installing Capella Viewer:

• Download, unzip, run setup and test Capella.

This category includes all files necessary  for downloading Capella and loading Capella Viewer from your computer. 

Some systemfiles must exist on your computer before  the Viewer is installed.

If you want to expand Capella from a viewer to an electronic chart system you must, after having successfully installed Capella Viewer, go to menu Capella Licence and order an UserPermit for your computer:

• Get Capellas computer ID from Capellas menu Help->About Capella...
• Order a  licence from this websites menu Capella Licence. Remember to set computer ID.
• A licence number(User Permit)is generated and sent to your email address.
• Set your licence number(User Permit) in Capellas menu Options.
• You now have access to WP, GPS and AIS services

When installing charts:

1. Backup your Capella/Charts folder.
2. Download your charts and unzip the file to a temporary folder.
3. Copy folder to your Capella Charts folder. Answer yes if questioned about overwrite files.
4. Start program CellPermit and merge new cell information(Import.dir) into your Capella/Charts/Import.dir file.

When installing charts:

4. Start program CellPermit and merge new cell information(Import.dir) into your Capella/Charts/Import.dir file.

All US charts under category Navigation Charts are free of charge and compiled from NOAA vector charts into Capellas internal format. 

1. Backup your Capella/Charts/US folder.
2. Select your Coast Guard district, download your charts and unzip the file to a temporary directory.
3. Copy folder US to your Capella Charts/US folder. Answer yes if questioned about overwrite files.
4. Start program CellPermit and merge new cell information(Import.dir) into your Capella/Charts/Import.dir file.

If you want to install the latest editions and updates you have to download your cells from NOAA  and apply program CellImport and CellPermit, bundled with Capella, to your charts. You can read more about NOAA and US chart cells at their website.
